Detect waste with AI

Abstract

Did you know that we produce 300 million tons of plastic every year? And only part of it is properly recycled. The idea of Plastic object detection project is to use Artificial Intelligence to detect plastic waste in the environment. Our solution is applicable for video and photography. Our goal is to use AI for Good. The talk will briefly introduce the results of work of 9 women behind the 5-month educational project detectwaste.ml - “Waste detection in Pomerania”. By the end you will know what was our motivation and how we managed to handle the problem. You will know what datasets we used (and there was many…) and how good our solution is. I hope that after this talk you will say ‘It is a problem worth consideration’.
